If you see an animal of interest at this facility, please act quickly as time is of the essence for all animals that are here...This is a very small, very rural shelter facility located at the end of the road, behind the landfill, with very little visibility to the public...Space is often times an issue for these animals which sadly leads to weekly euthanizations...Putnam County Animal Services is located at 174 County Landfill Road, Palatka, Florida, xxxx7...Palatka is located between Jacksonville and Orlando...Adoptions are in person only and all applicable information can be found below...Please note, however, that all bully breeds are only available to registered rescues so should you be interested in adopting same, coordination must be arranged with one of our local registered organizations...Please contact the appropriate volunteer below for assistance in that regard.
Shelter adoption hours are:
Monday 10-12 and 1-4
Tuesday 10-12 and 1-4
Wednesday 10-12 and 1-4
Thursday 1-4
Fridays 10-12 and 1-4
All animals that are adopted or rescued from Putnam County Animal Services are required by Florida Law to be spayed/neutered and to have a rabies vaccination. The cost at adoption is $70 for a male dog or cat (includes neuter) and $80 for a female dog or cat (includes spay). This includes the cost of spay/neuter, rabies vaccination and tag (non-residents will be required to register the animal and obtain a tag from their county of residence) and a $5 adoption fee. The fee for an altered animal is $10.
At the time of adoption, shelter staff will contact the veterinarian's office and schedule a surgery appointment. Your new pet will stay at the shelter until the day of surgery when an Animal Services officer will transport the animal to the vet. You will be able to pick up your new pet from the vet's office that same evening between 4:00 and 5:00 pm.
